SpaceX

SpaceX was formed by Elon Musk with a mission of revolutionizing the aerospace industry and making affordable spaceflight a reality. SpaceX is currently working on a next generation of fully reusable launch vehicles that can be capable of carrying humans to Mars and other destinations in the solar system.

SpaceX develops, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. In March 2017, SpaceX became the first company in the world to reuse a rocket sent into space. The ability to reuse rockets is paramount to the future accessibility of space. Otherwise, costs will become prohibitive.

Elon Musk compares the possibility of reusing rockets to airplanes, noting that no such rockets exist today, but that it will revolutionize access to space once the technology takes hold.

There has been a wave of excitement around SpaceX in regards to their satellite ambitions and the Starlink internet project. Starlink is SpaceX's experimental high-speed internet program that will use satellites to beam wireless broadband services back to Earth. In May 2019, SpaceX launched 60 experimental Starlink satellites. As part of a clever marketing tactic and testing the system, Musk sent a test tweet through the Starlink terminal he has at home. The test was successful.

SpaceX was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk and is headquartered in Hawthorne, California. Notable investors include Google, Founders Fund, Bank of America, and NASA.
