About
Chime was created to help everyday individuals make meaningful progress in their financial lives. For too long, millions of Americans—particularly the 75 percent of adults earning up to $100,000 annually—have faced challenges with traditional banking relationships that often do not align with their best interests. In response, Chime was founded with a new approach grounded in trust, rather than fine print and punitive fees.
Through direct relationships with FDIC-insured bank partners, Chime offers easy-to-use products designed to address the core financial needs of everyday people, including spending, saving, accessing liquidity, and building credit—all while avoiding punitive fees.
As of March 31, 2025, Chime has established trusted relationships with 8.6 million Active Members, 67 percent of whom consider Chime their primary financial institution. Serving as the primary account relationship positions Chime as the central financial hub for its members. This role enables members to consistently deposit their paychecks and conduct daily spending through the platform, fostering strong, long-lasting engagement. In the first quarter of 2025, Active Members conducted an average of 54 transactions per month using Chime, with 75 percent of those transactions made through Chime-branded debit and credit cards. Notably, 70 percent of purchase transactions were for non-discretionary expenses in categories such as food and groceries, gas, and utilities.
Chime's proprietary technology platform and digital-first model provide a significant cost-to-serve advantage and a higher pace of innovation compared to traditional banks. These advantages are expected to strengthen over time as the company continues to scale.
