About
Via Transportation offers local governments a rideshare and transit services platform. The company transforms antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks.
Via Transportation addresses a significant gap in the $545 billion global public transportation market. While billions of people worldwide rely on public transportation, this essential form of mobility has yet to meaningfully benefit from recent advances in technology. In many cities, buses still operate on fixed routes and schedules planned years, if not decades, ago—regardless of actual demand. While consumers can track a pizza from the moment it leaves the oven, parents of more than 25 million children in the United States lack real-time information on when their child’s school bus will arrive. Similarly, some of the most vulnerable citizens who depend on paratransit to access critical medical care have no alternative to cumbersome phone reservations that must be made a day or more in advance.
Via Transportation develops technology for public transit agencies and operators to plan, manage, and optimize services such as microtransit, school transport, and paratransit. The company’s platform integrates scheduling, dispatch, compliance, passenger booking, and data analytics, with optional services such as fleet procurement and call center support.
Via Transportation currently serves 689 customers in more than 30 countries, with 70 percent of revenue generated in North America and 30 percent in Europe. The majority of customers are government agencies, which account for more than 90 percent of revenue, including transit services in Sarasota, Florida, and Raleigh, North Carolina. The company estimates it has reached approximately 1 percent of its $545 billion total addressable market.
