PaxMedica, Inc. is an early-stage biotech company developing drugs to treat extremely complex and widespread neurological disorders.

Two of PaxMedica's main research efforts are focused on therapies for currently incurable conditions related to nervous system dysfunction and gene damage.

The drug candidate PAX-101 is in Phase IIa clinical trials for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder. Data from February 2021 showed a positive effect of PAX-101.

The drug candidate PAX-102 is in preclinical trials for the treatment of FXTAS syndrome (which causes severe brain damage and is the most common cause of mental retardation in men). This drug also theoretically may be effective in treating autism and other disorders.
