ASP Isotopes has a patented aerodynamic separation technology (ASP) developed by specialists from Klydon on their order. All rights to commercialize ASP belong to ASP Isotopes. Klydon also transferred the first installation for industrial production of the molybdenum-100 isotope.
This is a weakly radioactive isotope that is used, for example, in the study of double beta decay, which is closely related to neutrino physics. But above all, ASP Isotopes expects to sell molybdenum-100 as a raw material for the production of the technetium-99m isotope, which is widely used in medical diagnostics.
The value of the ASP Isotopes commercial idea is that the company is the first to offer an alternative production of technetium-99m. Until now, this isotope has been produced with great difficulty from the short-lived molybdenum-99 isotope, which needs to be extracted from the reactor's active zone, resulting in the isotope costing tens of millions of dollars per gram.
An additional direction of ASP Isotopes is the adaptation of the ASP technology for the enrichment of uranium-235, which can be used as an additive to fuel in small modular reactors of the new generation.
