About

Artsy is a worldwide platform dedicated to the collection and exploration of art. It allows users to search for artworks, add them to their collections, participate in live auctions, and directly purchase pieces from galleries and private collectors via its interface. The platform is structured around the Art Genome Project, which organizes art using over 1,000 characteristics like historical movements, subject matter, and formal attributes. Artsy collaborates with international galleries, auction houses, art fairs, and museums to establish a comprehensive online art marketplace. As of April 2022, Artsy has partnered with more than 3,400 galleries globally, offering access to over one million artworks by more than 100,000 artists from over 100 countries. The company’s mission is to enable a global audience to learn about, explore, and collect art.

Investors

Artsy’s notable backers include Larry Gagosian of Gagosian Gallery, collector and film producer Wendi Murdoch, and Jack Dorsey. Other key investors are Thrive Capital, Founders Fund, and Avenir Growth Capital. Founded in 2012, Artsy is based in New York City and maintains additional offices in London, Berlin, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.
