Impossible Foods, Inc. develops plant-based substitutes for meat and dairy products.The company observes animal products at the molecular level and selects specific proteins and nutrients from greens, seeds, and grains to recreate meats and dairy products. The company's flagship product is the Impossible Burger, which they claim is made from ingredients including plant-based protein, coconut oil, and heme, among other ingredients. 

n January 2019, the company introduced the Impossible Burger 2.0, wherewhey protein was relpaced soy one. Heme is a protein found in animal muscle that, accoeding to the company, is responsible for the distinctive taste and aroma of meat. Impossible Foods makes heme from plants. The burger can be found in more than 17,000 restaurants and more than 150 grocery stores in the United States, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore.
In January 2020, Impossible Foods introduced a new product at CES: Impossible Pork. The company hasn't announced when the pork will be available, but it also announced that Impossible Sausage will launch in 139 Burger King restaurants.
In October 2019, the Impossible Burger launched in grocery stores nationwide, becoming the No. 1 item sold at Gelson's in California. The company also has agreements with Burger King to sell the Impossible Whooper and has been selling its products through White Castle since 2018.

The company was incorporated in 2011 and is based in Redwood City, California. Notable investors in Impossible Foods include Temasek, Bill Gates, GV, Khosla Ventures, and Li Ka-Shing.
